When Lena Styfberg first came into contact with infrared panels, she was curious, but at the same time a little skeptical. Could thin panels in the ceiling really replace traditional elements and also reduce electricity costs? After working with stoves and fireplaces for over 35 years, she knew that there was a lot of promise in the heating industry, but she wanted to see real results before she made up her mind. Today, several years later, she would never want to go back. In her 103 square meter townhouse, Lena has installed nine infrared panels from Infracenter. The house feels significantly warmer than before, the floors are comfortable to walk on and the heating cost has dropped by around 20 percent. What surprised her most was that the biggest savings did not come from the panels themselves, but from a completely new way of thinking about heating.
The biggest savings come from heating the right rooms
Just like in most Swedish homes, the entire house used to be at about the same temperature. The hall, guest room, living room and bathroom were heated equally, even though they were used in completely different ways. When Lena came into contact with Infracenter, they didn't start by selling panels. Instead, they went through how the house was actually used in everyday life. Which rooms are used most often? Which rooms are only used occasionally? How can you create greater comfort while reducing energy consumption? That's where the big change began. Today, Lena controls each room individually. The living room and bathroom maintain a comfortable temperature when they are used, while the hall – which mostly functions as a transport route – can be cooler. The guest room also doesn't need to be heated more than necessary when no one is living there. The result is that the energy is used where it really does good.
| This is how Lena heats her house today | Temperature |
|---|---|
| Bathroom | 22 °C |
| Living room | 21 °C |
| Kitchen | 20 °C |
| Bedroom | 19 °C |
| Hall | 18 °C |
| Guest room | 17–18 °C when not in use |
By controlling each room separately, Lena has been able to reduce her heating costs by around 20 percent, while the house actually feels warmer than before.
A home with warmer floors and significantly better comfort
The first winter, Lena quickly noticed that the heat was experienced in a completely different way than before. Previously, she often walked around the house with slippers on and liked to take a blanket when she sat still on the sofa in the evenings. Today, the floors feel warm and comfortable and the whole house has a more even temperature. – I used to have direct-acting elements. Now the heat feels much softer and much more comfortable. I no longer have to walk around with slippers or sit wrapped in a blanket. Another positive surprise was that she feels less stiff in her body during the winter months. The soft infrared heat makes her joints feel more flexible and she moves much more easily at home than before.
Infracenter recommended the right solution from the start
What impressed Lena the most was that Infracenter didn't try to sell as many panels as possible. Instead, they started by sizing the house, calculating the power requirement and planning how each room would be used. Only then was the right panel size and placement recommended. This gave her a sense of security throughout the project. - I noticed right away that they really knew infrared heating. They didn't just look at square meters but at how we actually live in the house. I think that's a big reason why the result was so good.
The numbers confirmed the feeling
Lena monitors her electricity consumption carefully and compares her costs from year to year. When the first winter with the infrared panels was over, she sat down, as usual, with her calculations. The result was clear. Heating costs had been reduced by around 20 percent, while the comfort in the house had become significantly better. It was exactly the combination she had hoped for.
| The result after installation | |
|---|---|
| Heating cost | Approximately 20% lower |
| Comfort | Significantly more even heat |
| Floor | Warmer throughout the house |
| Individual room control | Yes |
| Underfloor heating | No longer needed |
| Maintenance | Basically nothing |
A choice she would make again without hesitation
Today, the infrared panels have been installed for several years and Lena is still as satisfied as the day they were installed. She appreciates not only the lower energy consumption, but above all the comfort that the infrared heating provides every day. The heat feels natural, the floors are pleasant to walk on and she no longer has to heat the entire house to the same temperature. – If I were to build or renovate a house again, I would choose infrared panels from Infracenter straight away. For me, it’s not just about saving money. It’s about having a home that feels much more comfortable to live in.
