In the heart of Gamla Stan lies Hotel Reisen, one of Stockholm's most well-known hotels. The building has a long history and a fantastic character, but like many older properties, thick stone walls and historic structures also pose certain challenges. One of them was moisture. When the hotel was to renovate ten hotel rooms, it not only wanted to create a comfortable temperature for its guests. It also wanted to find a long-term solution that provided a drier and healthier indoor climate. The choice fell on infrared panels from Infracenter.
Moisture is a common problem in older hotels
Older hotel buildings often have completely different conditions than modern properties. Thick exterior walls, large temperature variations and periods when rooms are empty can create a raw and damp feeling. For Hotel Reisen, it was therefore not just about installing a new heating system. The goal was to create hotel rooms that feel warm, dry and welcoming all year round.
Infrared heat warms surfaces – not just the air
After reviewing the project, Infracenter recommended infrared panels that heat walls, floors, furniture and other surfaces directly with soft infrared waves. When the surfaces become warmer, the risk of moisture accumulating on cold materials decreases, which contributes to a drier and more comfortable indoor climate. At the same time, guests experience even and natural warmth as soon as they enter the room. It is a solution that is particularly suitable in older buildings where both comfort and the condition of the building are important to consider.
High comfort without affecting the hotel's character
For Hotel Reisen, it was important to choose a heating system that worked together with the historic environment. The infrared panels were installed discreetly and blend naturally into the rooms without taking focus away from the hotel's architecture and interior design. The result was modern hotel rooms with a significantly more comfortable indoor climate – without major interventions in the building.
A smarter way to heat hotels
Another advantage of Infracenter's solution is the ability to control each hotel room individually. Rooms that are not in use do not need to be heated as much as rooms where guests have just checked in. This means that energy is used where it is most useful, while guests are always greeted by a warm and comfortable room. For hotels, this means both high comfort and better control over energy consumption.
That's why Hotel Reisen chose Infracenter
For Hotel Reisen, the project was about more than just installing a new heating system. They wanted to create a better indoor climate for both guests and the property. Through Infracenter's experience with infrared heating and careful sizing, the hotel received a solution that both improves comfort and helps keep the hotel rooms drier over time.

Historic buildings require the right heating solution
Hotel Reisen is one of many hotels, castles and cultural heritage buildings that have chosen Infracenter. When the character of the building is to be preserved while improving comfort, a heating system is required that works together with the property – not against it. That is why more and more hotels are choosing infrared panels from Infracenter when they want to create a drier, warmer and more pleasant indoor climate for their guests.
