Infrared heating panels provide Lena with fast heat and reduced costs

Infrared heating panels give Lena fast heat and reduced costs

Four infrared heating panels in the ceiling on the lower floor of a 103 square meter townhouse. They allow Lena Styfberg to reduce her heating costs by around 20 percent.

Lena Styfberg has worked with heating in the form of stoves and fireplaces for more than 35 years, but had never heard of infrared heating panels indoors until a few years ago. Then she met a supplier who had been to an energy fair who talked about infrared heating panels.

“I became interested and immediately saw the potential,” she says.

Smart control with thermostat

She thinks being able to control the heat via the thermostat works fantastically well. Some
It's pleasantly warm in the morning hours. It drops when she's at work, then rises again in the evening.

– It's so quick to heat up, it only takes a few minutes to heat up a room.
Regulating other types of elements in a home is much slower and therefore more expensive, says Lena Styfberg.

In the premises where she sells wood-burning stoves and cookers, she has installed some
infrared heating panels on the wall. And she notices the customers' interest when they stand at a panel and feel the pleasant warmth against their bodies.

– Combining a wood-burning stove powered by wood, pellets, ethanol or LPG with
Infrared heating panels are perfect, she says.

Four panels provided quick salvation

In the fall of 2021, Lena invested in four ceiling panels on the ground floor of her condominium townhouse in Åkersberg outside Stockholm. Two in the living room, one in the kitchen and one in the bathroom. And she is saved.

– Firstly, they provide fantastic warmth, a big difference compared to that from my
direct element. In addition, consumption is much lower, she says.
Even though Lena Styfberg has only had the panels for a year, she believes she has already recouped the investment.

– I also want to evaluate after two years of operation, but as it stands now, I am lowering my
costs by about 20 percent a year, she says.
Slipper slippers and sweater The elements are turned off. The floor heating as well. But the heat from the infrared panels is more than enough.

– Previously, I had to wear slippers, sweaters and blankets when I was sitting still. I don't need that now. I don't need to have the underfloor heating on, as the panels are cheaper to operate. This reduces heating costs radically. I am super satisfied, says Lena Styfberg.
In the bathroom, she always has a temperature of 22 degrees. The towels become warm and cuddly because they dry quickly and have a pleasant warmth.

– That is a very positive thing about infrared heating panels. They minimize the risk of moisture and
mold damage.

Hope to get lower insurance costs

– From what I understand, insurance companies in Germany are lowering premiums for those who have
infrared heating panels installed precisely because of the moisture and mold factor. I think it would be
"It's interesting for my insurance company to be the first to do it in Sweden," says Lena Styfberg.
Lena thinks that the minimal service and the environmental aspect suggest that more people should get up
eyes for infrared heating panels.

– A panel sits there for 30 years and you don't have to do anything except change the batteries in the thermostat. Heat pumps and compressors require service and also coolants. Where do they go? Are they environmentally friendly, she asks rhetorically.
